GameStop Power Up Rewards Pro Program

Year ago, I was lured into becoming a member of the GameStop Power Up Rewards Pro program. For a yearly membership fee, I would get some great benefits that included the following:

At the time, this was worth it to me because I was picking up many of the exclusive Funko Pop's from GameStop. I would go in on a monthly basis to use the $5 per month pro reward to get Pops or action figures. During the length of my membership, I also got back into gaming so I bought a new XBox and started playing on a Nintendo Switch as well.

Another benefit that the membership included was I received points based on how much I spent, and those would accumulate over the course of a year. When I earned over 10k points, I could redeem those for additional benefits including money off for in-store purchases.

At the end of the year, I would often make a larger purchase and use these points to reduce the actual amount of out-of-pocket money I was using. It was a nice system. I was part of the program in a time when they provided membership cards. I would typically get an astonished remark from the customer service rep in more recent years as I believe they discontinued providing these card in lieu of just using your phone #.

It has recently come to my attention that some changes have been made to the program that now make it not worth the expense, IMHO. GameStop has completely phased out its reward points system for Pro members, which officially ended in 2026. While the $25 annual membership cost remains the same, you can no longer earn Pro Points on purchases, and all existing points have expired. Also, the $5 monthly coupon can only be used in-store through their app.

I had installed the app a few times on my phones over the years, and 98% of the time I could not get it to function properly. Because of this, I uninstalled it from my phone. Last month (June 2026), I was made aware of the change to the program and I needed to use the app to use my monthly coupon. I made another attempt recently (July 2026) at a different location thinking that perhaps the rep at the last store just didn't want to help me. I got the same response. When I complained to each of the reps that I was never able to get the app to work correctly on my phone, they both said the same thing: "Yeah, I know bro."

This is an unacceptable response to the problem! While I understand that there is probably nothing the local reps can do to fix the issue since it is now part of the corporate policy, I shouldn't have to be forced to try and get a stupid app to work on my phone just to utilize the benefits of the membership I have held and paid for for so many years.

Because of this change in their program, I will not be renewing my membership once it expires and I also urge any of my readers who still pay into this same program to do the same. I doubt that it will cause a large enough impact, but it's a start. The new lack of real benefits outweigh the cost of membership, IMHO.

I'm sure there are those of you who will continue to use this program because you make more purchases of gaming products that the small discount makes it worth your while. That's fair. I did notice that on my last purchase, I did not receive the typical discount on the figures I bought. Based on what I'm finding online, I should still have received 5% off those purchases.

Avengers: Endgame Paradox Problem

I was recently thinking about the 2019 movie Avengers: Endgame and realized there is a huge paradox contained within.

In the scene where the Ancient One and Bruce Banner are discussing the problems with taking any of the Infinity Stones out of their timeline, it is mentioned that the stones would need to be replaced at the exact time they were taken from in order to not create a branching/divergent timeline.

When Captain America and Iron Man go back 1970 to steal the Tesseract from a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility. We know that the Tesseract houses the Space stone and to retrieve the actual stone, the Tesseract must be broken.

Because of this, Captain America would have to recreate the Tesseract to house the Space stone in order to return it to the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility. Since he couldn't do this, it wouldn't be returned correctly, S.H.I.E.L.D. wouldn't be able to continue researching it and Loki wouldn't have been sent to New York to retrieve it so the Chitauri could attack Earth. This would have created a whole new timeline.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Pride

I don't typically express my political opinions openly, and I definitely don't express my feeling on personal sexual preferences, but I will always support my friends who identify as part of a marginalized community.

This year, with all the major strife that has been going on in America, I felt the need to make a statement of some kind. That's why I am openly supporting those of the LGBTQ+ community alongside those who would identify as gamers.

I remember a time where being known as a gamer put you in a marginalized and outcast light. I grew up in the shadow of The Satanic Panic. I had a couple of friends in high school that questioned my reasons for choosing to associate myself with cults and evil. I always responded with the fact that gaming isn't evil, it's what you do in real life that makes that determination. Yes, there are devils and demons in Dungeons & Dragons, but they are primarily there as antagonists to be overcome by the players and not necessarily forces to be joined.

The parents of one of my high school girlfriends were so against my gaming that they had my GF ask me to quit playing D&D. I agreed to do that, but failed to inform them of the other games my group and I were playing at the time; Robotech and Rifts to name just 2. Since these weren't Dungeons & Dragons, I didn't break my promise. It also helped that I actually decided to foreswear D&D at that time because I firmly believed that the 2nd edition was nothing but a cash grab and would not support it.

Beyond that, I always felt like a square peg in a round hole when it came to my sexual feelings. While I always felt a strong attraction to females, I would occasionally find myself being attracted to males as well. For so many years, society would be the determining factor of keeping my personal preferences secretive. It wouldn't be until the mid-90's where I would (at least partially) break that character trait as I would enter into my first (and to date only) relationship with another male. It also helped that he was a part of a gamer organization that I was joining; The Camarilla.

There was no confusion about my feeling towards him. I loved him. The odd things was that he was also a drag queen. I'm not sure if that didn't play a big factor in my initial attraction towards him. While we continued to LARP, I would also support him by attending his drag shows and meet his fellow drag friends. None of them were gamers so our encounters were limited to the shows.

We spent the better part of about 4 years together. He would occasionally attend my family holiday gatherings and would also be invited to our birthday celebrations. I never told my family of our real relationship status. Looking back, I'm sure some of them knew but didn't care to say anything.

I don't remember a lot about our years together except for the fact that I was usually happy. I can't remember why our relationship eventually ended, but I did have a journal that I used to write in that helped to fill in some of those blanks... unfortunately, they didn't always paint a pretty picture of the relationship I once cherished. I have since decided to discard that journal in lieu of living with the good times still in my head. We both had relationships after we split up. I even got married and he helped my bride to be get ready for the ceremony.

Last September (2025), he passed away due to complications of his diabetes. When I hear the news, even though we had grown apart and lost touch, my heart sank and I felt an emptiness in my life. His name was Gene and I loved him.

Gene on the left. Me in the middle.

And that I the reason why I will be finally openly supporting my friends and fellow allies of the LGBTQ+ community. I'm sorry it took the passing of a wonderful soul to get me to this point.

Claw City Clackamas Grand Opening - My Experience

Clackamas Town Center
12000 SE 82nd Ave
Happy Valley, OR 97086

Earlier this year, my roommates and I visited the Claw City in Lincoln City and had a great time there. I'll be the first to admit that I have never been a huge fan of redemption games, but this experience really hit the dopamine button and made me want more.

I'm a Gen X'er that actually worked in an arcade in the late 90's. I loved playing video games and didn't take to playing games with claws or coin push tactics. My experience at the arcade also allowed me to understand the markup from what was paid for the prizes versus what it took to earn them... hence my skepticism of redemption games.

But then my roommates and I visited Dave & Buster's, and I found myself enjoying those redemption games as well. They actually had a Star Wars video game that I really enjoyed more that the redemption games at first, but that changed over times. I kept getting a nice dopamine boost when we would visit D&B's and started a collection of tickets to my name. It's also nice that everything is now kept on a card instead of actually having to cart around physical tickets like from my days at the arcade or even Chuck E Cheese.

When I first learned that there was going to be a new Claw City location at the Clackamas Town Center, I was excited. We visit this mall on occasion for a few of the other stores, but primarily to have dinner at D&B's. I honestly enjoy this mall because of the store options that aren't available in my local are in Salem.

When I first saw that they made an open call for content creators to come cover their grand opening, it made me excited for the possibility of being able to cover it for The Nat 20. This would be the first time covering an event outside of a comic con. I'm thankful for the opportunity for expanding the possibilities for this blog.

I arrived at the mall around 9:30AM, and I saw the line already extending out of the mall and almost to the Dave & Buster's entrance. I really wish that I could illustrate or articulate the length of this line. If you know the mall, the entrance is over by the Cheesecake Factory and Claw City is located just inside between Lids and Foot Locker. When I went inside, I did see that there was a separate line for influencers/content creators... so that's where I stood. Thankfully, it wasn't nearly as long as the other line.

It didn't take long for someone who was working for Claw City to come to check me in and provide me with the $100 game card that was offered for content creators. I will go deeper into what was offered to content creators a little later because this is a bit of a sticking point for me.

The first thing that I really noticed was that this location is much smaller than the others I have visited. Coupled with the amount of people that were allowed in, it honestly made for a fairly uncomfortable situation for a "fluffy" guy like myself.

I took a photo of myself in their photo booth

I will say that they had quite a few machines that offered a bunch of different prizes. One of my big gripes about the machines at all the Claw City locations is that the prize doors for many of them are located at the bottom of the machine so you have to get on your hands and knees in order to get the prize you've won. For a guy like me who is in his 50's, this is not the most comfortable thing to do. Along with the fact that there was not a lot of room in the location, this felt like something I wasn't going to attempt so this made me carefully consider the types of games that I decided to play.

Being a player of Magic the Gathering, I have seen packs made available as prizes at other locations. In Lincoln City, the cost of the packs is extremely high (3,000 tickets per pack)... and the number of games that allow you to earn tickets is equally high. In the Springfield location, the ticket cost is very low (6 tickets per pack), and the number of games to earn tickets here is also very low. At this new location, the cost for these packs seems very reasonable (50 tickets per pack), but I didn't notice how many games were there with tickets available to earn. If there were fewer people and more room, I would have made the attempt to earn tickets.

When I receive the invitation email for this grand opening, it was indicated that content creators/influencers would receive not only a $100 game card, but also a gift bag and some other incentives. When I asked about this, I was told that there was only a number of bags made available that were already handed out earlier and they no longer had any to provide.

In the flyer for the grand opening, I do see that gift bags were being made available for the first 100 people who came, but I would think that there would be different bags made for the content creators especially since they knew how many they invited in the first place. There was no indication in the invitation email that the bags for content creators would be limited. While not the biggest problem I had with the event, this was one of the straws on the preverbal camels back.

Here's a screenshot of the email invitation that I received indicating the goodie bag for influencers.

I feel that the location needs improvement. As mentioned before, this was quite a bit smaller than other locations that I have gone to. My favorite location so far is Lincoln City and I think this should be the template for future locations. If Clackamas had the size of Lincoln City, I feel I would have had a more enjoyable experience. I will try visiting again the next time we come to the mall. I didn't get the dopamine rush that I was hoping for, but maybe next time.

Thank you for the opportunity to come and participate in your Grand Opening.

“Weird Al” Yankovic: Bigger & Weirder 2025 @ Edgefield - My Experiences

2126 SW Halsey St.
Troutdale, OR, 97060
Thursday, August 14, 2025

I have been a "Weird Al" Fan for most of my life, and I even still have 2 of the original vinyl records from when I was a kid: "Weird Al" Yankovic in 3-D and Dare to be Stupid. I have been fortunate enough to have attended his concert at the Oregon State Fair back in 2008 and have been able to meet him twice when he's been a guest at Rose City Comic Con.

When he announced hi tour dates for 2025, I knew there was no way I was going to miss seeing him again. Unfortunate circumstances prevented me from seeing his past shows since 2008, but thankfully none of those obstacles were in my way this year.

We got there early enough to get a fair decent parking spot and was able to grab some dinner at the Power Station Pub before the concert. I'm a fan of the McMenamins locations and the various food options they provide and thankfully we got there before the major rush of people began. If you're visiting the Oregon or Washington, I highly recommend stopping by at least 1 of the locations. Most of them are historic and all of them provide an enjoyable atmosphere.

After dinner, we made our way to the line for the gate.. and it was already huge! We had to walk to the far end of the property over by the east field where they have additional parking setup for concerts. For a man who is in his 50's and "fluffy", this was not a very welcome part of the adventure. Fortunately, the line began to move quickly and fairly smoothly and we made it to our seats without issue.

My view of the stage. Section C - Row P

Puddles Pity Party was the opener for Al. I'll be honest, I have heard of Puddles before and seen photos, but I have never had the pleasure of listening to his work prior to this evenings event. What an incredible talent! I can now say that I am a fan and will be adding him to my list of performers I regularly listen to. Moist-O-Meter video
Then there was the main attraction; "Weird Al" himself. The concert was incredible as he and his band performed so many of his classic original songs along with so many of his wonderful parodies. For me, it was a performance of a lifetime and I will never forget it as long as I live.

Al came out into the audience during his performance of "One More Minute".

While the majority of the of the merch that was available was too small for a "fluffy" guy like myself, I did decide to pick up one thing that was suggested to me from a friend on Facebook. I got "Weird Al's" set of trading cards. Now, outside of CCG's like Magic the Gathering, I haven't collected regular trading cards for several years... but I had to have these for my collection.

While I had a great time listening and watching the whole concert, there were a couple of things that I didn't enjoy or appreciate about the experience. We paid $100.00 for our tickets to ensure a good place to watch the concert... which I feel like we had a good spot... and our ticket secured us a chair on the amphitheater lawn. As a "fluffy" guy who is now in my 50's, an actual chair to sit in was a necessity.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but what we got was not it. The chairs were hard and plastic and worst of all, they were zip-tied together. This means that there was no room between me and the persons to my left and right... and the concert was a sold out event. When I went to stretch my legs and visit the bathroom late in the event, there were so many people that were standing on the lawn to watch. Considering the length of the concert, I couldn't imagine standing for that long.

Going back to our seats, I feel that the price paid for each ticket would have afforded for a better quality of seats along with the idea of actually being able to be comfortable through the concert. I hope that someone with the staff from Edgefield finds these words and id able to take this complaint forward to those who may be able to make changes for future events.

While I don't go to concerts that often, the seating setup in the one thing that will keep me from going back for any further concerts... no mater how much I would like to go.

D&D Beyond

As of this writing, I have been playing TTRPG's for just over 40 years. As my loyal readers know, I also prefer physical media over digital media. I think Stan Lee expressed it the best when asked about digital comic books.

My apologies to anyone offended by this.

Over the past couple of years, I have been playing in a face-to-face Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition game. We are using the free D&D Beyond accounts for our character sheets, and one of our former players shared his entire collection of books he had available through D&D Beyond as well. This has been an invaluable resource, but I still prefer the physical books and have most of them in my collection.

I have been toying with the idea of running my own campaign after several years of not being a DM/GM/ST because of burn-out. I see all the digital advancements that make our D&D sessions enjoyable, and I would like to be able to provide that for my future players.

However... while I have purchased all the books physically, I only have access to them in D&D Beyond through the collection that was shared with me. I don't have the kind of extra money to be able to purchase all the books digitally, and was hoping that I might be able to still access the books that were shared with me, and also share them with my future players.

Of course this means that I would be upgrading my current subscription from the free version to the Master Tier.

Does anyone happen to know if this would be possible? Like I said, I can't afford to re-purchase all the books digitally, but I want to be able to give my players the same type of enjoyment that I'm experiencing in the game that I am a player in. Also, having the VTT and digital tokens would be a wonderful addition as well as I have never invested in a large quantity of physical miniatures. I do have a sizeable collection of Heroclix, but they're not the fantasy story of minis that I would want for a D&D game. I have been collecting a few of the pre-painted minis from WizKids, but not nearly enough to support running an entire campaign with.

I would love to hear your thoughts, experiences and opinions on what I can do to bring my hopes of getting back into running a D&D campaign to life.

Legendsverse

I have been collecting action figures for years, and for years I have been looking for a way to keep track of my collection. I have also been looking for a place where I could get an idea on how much my collection is worth as well.

I've been using the CLZ apps for years to keep track of my books and comics, but they have yet to create an app for action figures. I know that they have been asked about creating one many times, but I believe the response has always been that it's not in the picture for their future.

A few weeks ago (as of this writing), Big Nerdy of the Nerdzoic YouTube channel posted a video that caught my attention.

This was my first introduction to Legendsverse

When I first took a tour of the website, there were a couple of action figure lines that I collected, and I loved the interface. It was an easy decision to sign up for a free account and begin adding figures from my collection. By the time I almost finished adding my G.I. Joe Classified figures, I had come to the limit of figures I could add under the free account. By that time, I already made my decision to upgrade to a full account, but I wanted to wait until a few more action figure lines were added to the system.

Then I received an email from the creator Alejandro and he offered a discounted lifetime membership. Between that and the offer that Big Nerdy had made in his video, I jumped at the opportunity to join to not only be able to use this great service, but watch it grow and see how far it goes.

For my fellow collectors, I highly recommend signing up for a lifetime membership. There is also a growing community where you can interact with your fellow collectors. Legendsverse is only going up, and with your help, it can evolve into the best site for action figure collector. I invite you to watch the video from Nerdzoic to get a better understanding of what capabilities the site has to offer.

Possible End of an Era

I have been trying to figure-out if and how to write this for the past several months, and I have just now decided to put fingers to keys.

I haven't published a new review since the end of January 2021. That isn't to say that I haven't been reading, or don't have a large selection of trades that have been read. I have tried several times over the past few months to sit at my desk to make the attempt to write, but nothing comes out.

I don't mean to sound crude, but I have been feeling creatively constipated, and this has made me consider the future of my blog.

There's a part of me that wants to blame the Covid-19 pandemic for my current state of a creative lull. It have been since September of 2019 that I have been able to go to a large-scale comic event. There hasn't been any opportunities to connect with the masses and get my geek on; so to speak. It's like I haven't had enough fiber in my creative/geek diet.

It also doesn't help that I tried to transition my blog into a podcast, but I don't feel confident in the recordings that I have attempted. I've resigned myself that either an audio or video podcast isn't in my future. I don't think video was ever a real option as I've always felt that I have a face for radio/audio and not so much for video.

At this time, Rose City Comic Con is scheduled for September, and I have submitted my application for a promotional table for my work with Comic Book Covers 4 Cancer. If that falls through, I hope to once again be included as a member of the press so I can cover RCCC again as I have over the past several years.

If I can find a remedy for the writers block and publish some reviews, I will. At the very least, you will see a my thoughts on RCCC in September with hopes that this will be the catalyst to bring me out of my slump.

To all of my loyal readers, I appreciate your support and I hope that I can come back from this. If there becomes a time where I feel like there's no coming back, I will make sure to let you know here first.

Autographs from Artists/Writers/Creators

After reading the article posted by Bleeding Cool about Adam Kubert refusing to sign a comic, and the subsequent comments that I have been reading, I felt that I wanted to express my point-of-view on the matter.

When I was younger, our area had a comic book show where they would have bigger named artists sign for $0.25 each signature, and the collected money would go to charity. In these days, I received signatures from the likes of Fabian Niceza, John Romita Jr., and there were so many other notables from the 90's that made appearances.

I mention this because this was the beginning of my desire to collect autographs. I had no problem with that arrangement. Of course, we also didn't have things like eBay, CGC/CBCS or the internet either. I'll admit that while I collected these autographs for myself, I always kept the idea of being able to sell anything I received a signature on for the future.

I continue to collect autographs with this mindset, and I will explain why this is.

I don't have any children, and for most of my life, I have never had much of a desire to have any. So that means I have nobody to necessarily pass my collection on to when I leave this world. It's my intention that whoever is the bearer of my eventual estate have a relatively easy time in liquidating my collections should the need arrive. This is also why I work to get a certificate of authenticity for everything that is signed.

So I typically prefer to have items simply signed and not personalized. I have received some books that were personalized to me, but they have been rare. I have never regretted these personalized autographs, and I would never seek an autograph for immediate personal financial gain.

With that being said, I think it's fair to say that the only exception to my statement about immediate personal gain are books that I look to get signed for my non-profit, Comic Book Covers 4 Cancer. When I get an artist or writers autograph on one of the covers or blanks set to be auctions for #CBC4C, I make sure that they know up front.

At Rose City Comic Con this year, I actually had a chance to interact with Adam Kubert. I was getting a personal book signed and a few books for #CBC4C. Feel free to read about my experience here. I felt that he was very receptive to all the people that came to receive his autograph. There was one person ahead of me that I felt was only trying to get Kuberts autograph to make a buck, but that's only this mans opinion. Adam didn't balk at signing the items that this guy put in front of him, including a Marvel line-up poster that he had already received several autographs on it.

I support creator's right to refuse to autographs any item they feel like and I support Adam's decision to sign the comic provisionally. If I were in the situation where a creator suggested that they personalize what I have asked to have signed, I would be more than happy to accept. Even though it may mean a little inconvenience for someone in the future, I would cherish the experience.

Several years ago, at Emerald City Comic Con, I had an opportunity to meet Bill Willingham and get some of my Fables trades and single issues signed including my copy of Peter & Max. Willingham asked to personalize the autograph for Peter & Max, and I did not hesitate to accept. This was the same year that a guy in line ahead of me for Willingham unloaded a duffle bag full of Fables, Cinderella and Jack of Fables books for him to sign. If ever I saw a time where a creator maybe should have either suggested to personalize or decline to sign so many items for a single person, this was it.

In the end, I support whatever decision a creator takes when being asked for an autograph. If they feel that the person is just out to make a quick buck, and they don't approve. they should feel empowered to decline or suggest the autograph be personalized. There are many who are charging for autographs already, and even charging more if there is a CGC/CBCS witness present. If people want to try and make some money off of, they should be willing to pay for it.

Pet Peeves In Gaming Groups

Everyone has them and many people don't take the time to let their fellow players know about them and this inhibits your enjoyment of game. I thought I'd go over a few of mine. Please feel free to include yours in the comments below.

Players not paying attention during game-

In the past, I never had any issues getting players to maintain focus while gaming. Nowadays, there are so many things that draw players focus away from the game, and I've found too many players that actively do things on computers or other items that keep them focused on something other than the game at hand.

Case in point, in the gaming session I'm currently in (yes, I understand the irony) there are 4 players painting, one who is working on her computer, and earlier a player was playing on her Nintedo DS. None of them have been able to successfully multitask. In our combat, each one of them had to be diverted from their chosen task to be reminded of the current situation.

Don't get me wrong... I know that I have been distracted during game from time to time, but I try to make sure I pay attention as much as possible. And every gaming group will go off topic about various subjects. I often joke about talking about The Walking Dead at my weekly Pathfinder game because it's a common topic before we begin. It occasionally has the effect of bringing everyone back to focus on the game with a good laugh.

Players not prepared for game-

https://www.roleplayingtips.com/gm-techniques/top-5-game-prep-mistakes/

When you have a regularly scheduled game, you should know that you need to bring everything you need to it before you leave for the game. Also, I game with players that have been doing this for several years. You shouldn't have forgotten key materials like your dice or your character sheet. I can understand forgetting to bring your characters mini from time to time, and that's why I now always have mine in my backpack all the time.

You don't have to be a boy scout to be ready for game.

Food for players-

In many of the gaming groups I have been apart of, we have usually made plans ahead of time for meals or snacking during the game. Occasionally... when the location of the game happens to be at someones house... there has been the expectation of the host providing said food.

A past Pathfinder game I was part of had a tradition of doing a potluck every 2nd Sunday of the month. I really like this idea as it doesn't put a heavy weight load on anyone. It's worked very well. My issue is when offering food for the game... such as when it is held at your house/apartment... become an expectation from the visiting players.

It's one thing to offer a meal on occasion while game it at your place, but it's another when the players expect there to be food for their consumption when they visit. This has been a problem in the past when I have helped to host games at my home and this has been the downfall of a couple of gaming groups I have been in.

Kids at game-

I understand that some parents are not able to get childcare all the time, but there have been so many times where the game has been hampered by children who have been brought to game.

Your scheduled game time is not a time where you should bring your kids all the time. In many of the games I have participated in, the themes run from casually adult related (i.e. The occasional "foul" word) to downright R-rated (i.e. Foul language and dramatic scenes of violence and death).

While some parents don't care if their children are bombarded by such things, that isn't the full extent of my issue with kids at game. I started gaming at age 10, and was well versed in the 4-lettered words as well as graphic violence. My biggest issue is the fact that your scheduled gaming session is not daycare.

Children get bored and will accost either the parents or other adults in the gaming group to either get some kind of attention or try to find something to do that will occupy their attention for a while longer. This becomes a larger issue when the parents of these children do nothing to control them.

In addition to those parents that bring their children to game and leave them to their own devices without actually working to parent them because game time is their time, I'm upset at those parents who think that they can just sit their children in front of a TV (with either video games, movies or shows) and think that everything's going to be fine... especially with multiple children that may have attention disorders. Kids get bored of watching the same show, and multiple kids won't often agree with playing the same video game for an extended period or watching the same movie. This has been a contributing factor to the downfall of gaming groups that I have been a part of.

Drama-

Life happens. We all know this. There are problems that you should concern yourself with, and there are those that you really shouldn't. Don't bring your dirty laundry to your game and realize the difference between a real problem and what is generally called a "First World Problem".

If you have real problems that others in your gaming group may be able to help you with, then sure, bring them up for discussion to help you better resolve whatever situation is going on in your life. traditionally, gaming groups are formed from people who are friends, and as a friend they should have a vested interest in helping you when they can. However, you shouldn't make the entire gaming session about resolving your issues. You're there to game and have some fun. A time to step away from the vicissitudes of the real world to partake in some fantasy time.

If you're overly concerned because another game you attend didn't go well for you (or your character), and you allow this to affect your mood that disrupts the current game session, don't bring it to your game session.

As my regular readers and friends know, I was a part of The Camarilla and Mind's Eye Society for many years. One of the reasons I'm no longer with the current organization is the fact that there was too much drama being brought to games as well as through the various out-of-game sources of communication. Because these groups were large organizations, there was a great deal of political drama in and out-of-game.

If you let what happens to you character in-game affect your mood out-of-game, you should really take a look at your priorities, IMHO.

I understand getting attached to your characters over time, but they are only characters on a piece of paper. They do not really bleed. They do not suffer from being unemployed for a long time. They live and die during your game sessions. It is said that there are 2 things you can never avoid: death and taxes. Most games don't deal with taxes but just about every game deals with death.

Getting "cock-blocked" by the DM/GM/ST you're trying to role play-

Part of an RPG is Role Playing. It's not all combat. There are things that players try to do in order to progress the background and storyline of their character. This seems to happen more often with ST's/DM's/GM's that are easily distracted by every other player and you're the single player that doesn't want to be rude and interrupt the others.

I come to game because I want to role play to get away from the vicissitudes of real life. I do this by interacting with other PC's and NPC's in the games environment. My character has a rich and developed background that I worked on before the game began. It was submitted for your review so you could come-up with ways to use it within your game. Why don't you allow me to complete certain tasks setup within my background when it doesn't interfere with the game?

Players using out-of-character information in game-

Sometimes a DM/GM/ST doesn't have the opportunity to take time out of game to convey information that only certain PC's should/would know. Because of this, that information is conveyed to the player during game in front of all the players.

Though this info was directed at a specific PC or group of PC's and not the entire group, some people treat this information as common information and act upon it. This makes having secrets in your characters background and keeping secrets from other PC's very difficult.

During my time in The Camarilla and Mind's Eye Society, this was a large issue the ST's faced because there was little they could do about the fact that they needed to provide information to a small group or individual when they are running a game for a very large group. Thankfully there were only a handful of people who would occasionally use this kind of information improperly.

What really bugged me about my time with The Camarilla and using out of game information in game was when it was utilized by storytellers at a higher level. For instance, there was a PC who had committed diablerie in our vampire game. No PC's were aware, but this detail needed to be on an official ST report to the regional storyteller. Shortly after this information was reported, a group of players (a couple assistant regional storytellers included) came to our game, found the "offending" PC and worked to deal with it in game without any provocation or way they could have known about the diablerie.

Before the inclusion of technology in games, we normally passed written notes for these types of secretive communique's. In the past, I have personally utilized instant messengers that they players have had access to. I know that many places you would normally play have some kind of WiFi access, I also know from personal experience that they are not always very reliable. This is why I would prefer to keep my tabetop games at someones house where the WiFi isn't being used by everyone outside of the game.

My thought is if this upsets you, perhaps you should take it as constructive criticism rather than an insult.
